Analyst claims iPhone 4S will work on T-Mobile and Sprint networks

iPhone 4

Do you know what would solve T-Mobile’s contract customer woes? An iPhone. I’m not talking about any iPhone either. I’m talking about the next iPhone hardware model that Jefferies analyst Peter Misek is calling the iPhone 4S. This analyst supposedly has the inside scoop on Apple’s next phone. Rumors have been out of control about this device. Some believe it’s going to have all new everything, while others believe it’s just going to have minor alterations that doesn’t require a bump from iPhone 4 to iPhone 5. Misek says it’s the former.

According to Business Insider, Misek wrote a note about the iPhone 4S that said the phone would contain “minor cosmetic changes, better cameras, A5 dual-core processor, and HSPA+ support.”

The HSPA+ support suggests the iPhone 4S is right up T-Mobile’s alley. Misek also said the iPhone 4S will be compatible with Sprint and China Mobile.

It apparently won’t be called the iPhone 4G because Apple started production on the 4S before the 4G chips were created.

This isn’t the first rumor about the next iPhone and it’s surely not the last. The final word will come from Apple itself.

Alarm Dock turns wood and iPhone into alarm clock with style

Areaware iPhone alarm dock turns iPhone into classy alarmclock

Simplicity itself is how one might describe the Alarm Dock.  Carved from wood, the Alarm Dock provides a simple dock for your iPhone that turns it into a common looking alarm clock.  For just $39, it goes into my “not bad” column.

The wood is cut to hold your iPhone while providing a pass through for your power cord.  No speaker, no confusing dials, no confusing am/pm button.  Simple.

Combined with a flip clock app, overnight guests may have a hard time believing that’s your phone sitting there.  Others may just shake their heads at your fancy spending habits of paying $39 for an iPhone holder.

The unit is scheduled to ship 9/15/11 and is available for pre-order now.

The NUU MiniKey Bluetooth keyboard iPhone 4 case

It seems like we cover a lot of Bluetooth keyboards that are specifically designed for mobile devices such as the iPhone before, like the EFO Mini Bluetooth keyboard, Freedom i-Connex, and the Chinavasion one. Joining the party is the NUU MiniKey Bluetooth keyboard case for the iPhone 4.

Of course, there is the matter of the battery life, as Bluetooth tends to drain the battery. However, this can also be a secondary battery for the iPhone should there be a need to make a quick phone call with a low iPhone battery.

Another thing that might a seller is the fact that it has backlit keys. There are also “text-editing shortcuts, a long battery life, and an automatic sleep mode”.

For those who like the tactile feedback on the iPhone, this is your thing. Yeah, eat that, BlackBerry! I don’t seem to have a price on the NUU Minikey Bluetooth keyboard, but it should arrive in many countries soon.

Third Rail iPhone case has detachable battery

We have seen a lot of external battery solutions for the iPhone 4 before. For some reason, the mophie juice pack comes to mind, and, more recently, the Xtreme Mac Incharge Mobile.

This is the Third Rail System, and it follows the model of aforementioned external battery products. That is, it has an exterior shell to put on the iPhone itself, which is the iPhone 4 Slim Case.

What really separates the Third Rail from its…competitors is that the battery is completely removable. The 1250 mAh Smart Battery is there for whenever the user may need a boost. They charge via micro USB, they can be stacked for charging other devices, and they are designed to be compatible with future cases. I’m assuming that the name of The Third Rail comes from that subway rail that I’m told contains all of this electricity.

The Third Rail System external case costs about $90, but the external batteries themselves can be purchased for about $30 a pop.

Morpho DJ system puts the iPhone on a turntable

We have covered a lot of interesting Apps that help DJs, like the Tap DJ App and the PocketLoops. Now there is this Nicholas J. Bryan’s Morpho DJ.

You can watch the video here, and it is pretty amazing to see an iPhone put on a turntable and then scratched and used as if it was a vinyl LP record. It works by affixing the smartphone to a perspex disc and the accelerometer and gyroscope data does the rest.

You will note how it can go backwards, speed up, and all sorts of interesting things. Apparently, they plan to put it on display at NIME (New Interfaces for Musical Expression) conference.

It reminds me of how DJ Rana Sobhany uses two iPads to do the DJ thing. In other words, someone has figured out a way to make the DJ thing compatible with our culture of iDevices. I suppose that this is the future, isn’t it?
