Frequently you’ll hear about the latest smartphones featuring high end hardware like a dual-core processor, high resolution camera, large touchscreen and more. Pretty standard to us but as compared to phones from just 5 years ago it’s quite the break through. Due to this hype, expect to see many hardware manufacturers come forth to debut similar smartphones as the year goes on.
Motorola, in particular, has their own high powered smartphone coming to market in the form of the Motorola DROID X2 – quite obviously a follow up to the popular DROID X, also for Verizon Wireless. While it’s not been officially confirmed, leaks have let us know that the DROID X2 will feature a 4.3-inch display with 540 x 960 qHD resolution, NVIDA Tegra 2 processor clocked at 1GHz, 512MB of RAM, 8GB of internal storage, 8 megapixel rear facing camera with autofocus, dual LED flash and 1080p video capture, no front facing camera, HDMI output and Google’s Android ‘Froyo’ 2.2. Of course, as I said, these specs are according to various leaks so it’s not officially confirmed that the device will feature such hardware but there is a good chance the final product will be on par with what’s mentioned above.
Another thing we haven’t been able to pin point about the Motorola DROID X2 is when exactly it will be hitting store shelves. Thanks to yet another leak, we now have word that the Android powered smartphone will be made available through Verizon Wireless, and presumably your typical retailers, on May 26th. If true, that gives Motorola and Verizon just about 10 days to put the DROID X2's marketing engine in full swing.
We’ll keep you posted as more information regarding the device is made official.
