Target Getting HTC Sensation 4G for $199.99 in June

Wireless carriers far and wide are working closely with hardware manufacturers to get smartphones and tablets onto the market complete with 4G connectivity. For reference you can look  at AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile and Sprint who have devices like the Motorola Atrix 4G, HTC Thunderbolt 4G, Galaxy S 4G and HTC EVO 4G, respectively. However, while these devices are pretty much top of the line for the time being improved hardware has been, and will continue, calling for new and improved devices.

T-Mobile, in particular, is pushing their 4G HSPA+ network very heavily with the above mentioned Galaxy S 4G alongside the T-Mobile G2, T-Mobile G2x Sidekick 4G, myTouch 4G all featuring connectivity for the network. While all of these devices have speedy access to the mobile web only the T-Mobile G2x features a dual-core processor. Luckily, it’s been known for quite some time that T-Mobile would also be offering the HTC Senstation 4G in the near future which comes complete with some very noteworthy specs.

For those not familiar with said specs, the HTC Sensation 4G has a 4.3-inch SLCD display with qHD (540 x 960) resolution, 1.2GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, 768MB of RAM, included 8GB microSD card expandable up to 32GB, 8 megapixel rear facing camera with dual LED flash and autofocus, VGA front facing camera, Google’s Android’ Gingerbread 2.3 and of course connectivity for the carrier’s 4G HSPA+ network. Just as a quick tidbit, the qHD resolution I mentioned above is nearly on par with the iPhone 4‘s Retina Display 640 x 960 resolution which Apple touts quite highly.

As many other forthcoming devices, while we’ve known what hardware the HTC Sensation 4G will pack in addition to a general release window (June, 2011) we haven’t been able to pinpoint a price tag. Luckily, the folks over at Android Central are at it again this time coming up with a picture of part of Target’s HTC Sensation 4G display (included after the break) that says the device will be priced at $199.99 with 2-year contract or $549.99 unlocked. Pretty standard as compared to other smartphones with similar hardware but unfortunately there was no mention of a more solid release date alongside this leak so we’ll have to keep you posted on that front.
